Arizona Topography 3D
|
Welcome to the Arizona Topography 3D website! This site consists of images and QuickTime Virtual Reality (QTVR) movies of topographic maps of Arizona draped over digital topography for each 1° X 1° quadrangle. This site allows you to see how topographic contours relate to the land surface, cities, and other culture.
To use the movies on this site you will need QuickTime installed on your computer, either as a plug-in for your browser or as a stand-alone application to run downloaded files. To access a movie, click on one of the links below to jump to a page with links to images and QTVR movies. You can view the movies and images within your browser, or download the file to your computer and run QuickTime as an application separate from your browser. Some movies are QTVR object movies (labeled "spinners"), where you click and drag your mouse to the left or right to spin the terrain. Other movies are QTVR panoramas, where pushing your shift key and control key zoom in and out, respectively, and clicking and dragging once you are zoomed in will move around in the movie. There are two ways to view this site.
The frames page contains a 3D relief map and a list of the movies and images for all the quadrangles. Clicking on the map will shift the list so that the links for that quadrangle appear at the top of the list. The size of the frames can be adjusted by moving the curser over the frame divider, clicking on it, and dragging left or right.
The 1X1 page has a 3D relief map of Arizona. Clicking on a 1° X 1° quadrangle will take you to a page with all the links for that quadrangle. If you are interested in just one quadrangle, the 1X1 page is probably the most useful.
