Now, take a look at the northwestern (right) side of the butte.
Do you see how the slope of this side is very gentle until you reach point Z where it becomes steeper? What do you think causes that change in slope?
Also, notice the pattern that the cliff makes (denoted by the red line). Try to find this on your field map (Hint: remember that cliffs appear as very closely-spaced topo lines on a topographic map.)

Now, take a look at the northwestern (right) side of the butte.
