Point bars
Meandering streams and/or rivers are mature drainage systems that have had a long time to develop broad flood plains. They are usually gently flowing, but may become much more energetic in the flood season.
Regardless of whether or not a meandering stream is flooded, the lowest energy associated with the current is found along the inner bank of meanders. Here, fine particles like silt and mud fall out of suspension and are deposited along the shore line.
The sediments deposited here accumulate over time to form Point Bars.
