This is my second time taking this course. I've found that instructor
makes or breaks the course. I think this topic is boring , however,
Reynolds is enthusiastic at all times, making it interesting and
fun. He uses analogies to help explain a topic which is very effective
in my opinion. Best of all, he is always happy and smiling.
My favorite class at ASU! I never though in my wildest dreams
I would ever enjoy a science class! It's nice to see an instructor
who is concerned with student's learning. So many times
I have had instructors who forget that we are in school
to learn.
Very knowledgeable of his material, has a great way of interpreting
things. Relating real life things with the course material is
very good and very helpful @ times. One of the better 100 level
class instructors I have had in a long time. He writes tests that
make you think, not just memorize facts, this is quite amazing,
I didn't think this was a goal in this era of schooling. Thank
you!
Makes class really fun and I like it that he rewards students
for coming to class plus I like the in class projects and lectures.

Steve kicks ass. The structure of the class is excellent and Prof.
Reynolds makes things fun and useful and very interesting. The
slides are excellent and he is very helpful and understanding.
Prof. Reynolds taught everything in a very fun manner. It was
definitely not a chore to come to class. He's a great professor
and shows great enthusiasm in Geology.
He makes the class worth going to, with his knowledge and helpfulness.

I enjoyed Reynolds lectures, he is entertaining and tries his
best to keep us interested in a subject we aren't very enthused

Steve Reynolds has been the 1st professor to leave me with a positive
experience at ASU. His lecture and teaching methods were relatable
and understandable. I wish all professors could take some notes
and ideas from Steve.
I thought he was a really neat teacher. He made the class fun
and you can tell he loves geology.
Stephen Reynolds is the best instructor I have encountered since
I've been at ASU (this is my second year). He keeps the whole
classes attention and makes geology interesting. I had to take
geology as a requirement but I have actually enjoyed the class
and I have learned a lot. I missed a week of school because of
a sprained ankle and Prof. Reynolds helped me make it up and gave
me several options on what I could do. He has been an excellent
professor and I would definitely take another class from him.
I have enjoyed this course more than I would. Dr. Reynolds enthusiasm
and expertise in the field have definitely made an average and
class into a good and educational one. However, I think there
were a few too many HW assignments.
Good clarity and relevance. First time I've really understood
a science and thought it was interesting. I believe his enthusiasm
and knowledge and teaching make him a good teacher. I'd kind of
like to be able to teach like that myself.
Instructor is great, his joy of geology is spreading to the class.
His experience are shared with the class and this makes it more
personable. He can relate to the students very well. His method
of teaching is great, I actually look forward to coming to class.
I enjoy the slides, they make the subjects make more sense that
just looking at pictures in a book.
Prof. Reynolds has done a wonderful job teaching this class -
he always holds my attention and makes me think. His tests are
difficult but his grading is fair. I can tell he enjoys what he
excited to teach us what he knows.
Dr. Reynolds helped me both inside and outside of the classroom.
It's cool to see someone so passionate about his work! P.S. The
tests were too hard!!
Steve is a great guy. He truly cares and has an understanding
of the student. His willingness to work w/ the students makes
me eager to come to class! I recommend him to all my friends.

Prof. Reynolds is a great instructor- very enthusiastic. He easily

I hate science and Professor Reynolds made the class not only
bearable but fun! He's one of the best teachers I've had at ASU
(I'm a Sr.).
He is always full of excitement and makes class fun.
He's great, never a problem, always helpful. I loved the demonstration
with the sand and monsters and Tonka bulldozer.
He makes the class more that just a memorization period. Always
stimulation of interest other than major(?).
Prof. Reynolds is probably my best instructor. He makes geology
easy to understand. His slides are also interesting because they
are from places he's been to. I also thought he went out of his
way for field trips which were interesting. I would definitely
take another course from him.
Steve has to be one of the most enthusiastic teachers at ASU.
He is the best instructor I have had so far. Him and Bob worked
well together and were always helpful and available.
Dr. Reynolds is an excellent professor. His teaching
sly is perhaps one of the best I've seen from a science
instructor. What impresses me most is that Dr. Reynolds does not
assume that we will be Geologists- something very important for
a survey class. The lectures are not laden with technical terms
and Dr. Reynolds stresses the grasp of the concept rather than
a vocabulary word. I appreciate greatly the teaching style of
Dr. Reynolds, and he is truly an asset to the Geology Dept.
Class was great. However, I do not feel I belonged in this class.
I transferred from a Maricopa community college where an advisor
wrongly told me that Environmental Geology and lab would satisfy
the natural science and lab requirement at ASU. When I came to
ASU I found that this was not true and was told to take GLG 101/103.
Taking GLG 101/103 has been a waste of my time and money as the
course content for both Environmental Geology and this class are
virtually identical. Basically, I learned nothing new.
Reynolds is a excellent teacher is means of he give us a good
understanding of the material, cares that we understand and so
on. He has good jokes dealing w/Geology.
Very informative. Made class fun and easy to learn. Has spunk
and zeal. Maybe other boring geology Prof. I have met should get
a clue-very big pay raise for Steve.
He's very enthusiastic about Geology and seems to love
teaching it. He's has a great deal of knowledge in this subject
and is very skilled in conveying that knowledge to students. He
helped me to understand a lot about the geology around AZ and
elsewhere. After taking this course, I'm very interested in Geology.
I wish I could take more classes with Prof. Reynolds! Keep up
the GREAT work!!!
I thought this class and the philosophy of teaching was very well
thought out. I enjoyed his class very much.
I think professor Reynolds is really great. You can tell he loves
his subject, which makes it more interesting for students. He
is also very friendly and likes to help students. I was really
surprised to find him at the Noble Library and have him offer
his help. That is dedication.
I was nervous to take this class because I knew nothing about
the subject but Prof. Reynolds is a great Prof. He always makes
the lectures interesting and makes you want to learn the subject.
He is also always available to help in any areas. You can tell
he genuinely cares about his students and their success and understanding
of the subject. Best Prof. I've had at ASU. This is my 3rd sem.
Book isn't very helpful - goes into to much detail sometimes and
get confusing.
Prof. Reynolds is always willing to meet with us out of class
and offers extra help. While working on our research papers he
spent time in the library and helped me a lot.
Prof. Reynolds was very helpful both inside and outside of class.
He knew when his tests were too hard and he was popular w/ the
students. He's a great Professor and I would like to take another
one of his classes.
I truly enjoyed having Steve Reynolds as my professor. Not only
did he interest me in the subject matter but he also ran a highly
interesting class. He also makes an attempt to get to know his
students outside of the classroom setting. In a system so large
he's truly an asset.
Probably, the best professor I've had in college so far. He is
very enthusiastic about the class, keep it interesting, and grasps
your attention. He makes geology very fun and enjoyable.

Prof. Reynolds has a lot enthusiasm that generates class participation.
He focus' more on the concepts of geology instead of facts, which
I feel helps the students gain a better understanding. He also
makes himself very available to students (he was in the map library
everything I went there, helping students). GREAT TEACHER!
Prof.: he seems like a great guy. I wish that all my teachers
in collage were like him. I have learned a lot and more than my
friends in the same class but different teachers. I hope I can
get him again.

Professor Reynolds always teaches with great enthusiasm. He makes
the topics interesting and easy to understand. He is always willing
to help those students who need help in understanding main ideas.
Steve made this class fun. I thought it would be extremely boring,
but Steve always tried to make it interesting and understandable.
Sometimes the material we covered was boring, but that had nothing
to do with Steve. Also has a sense of humor, so lectures weren't
so drab.
I enjoyed this instructor very much. His experience and many slides
of the world are very fascinating. He is very enthusiastic and
fun which of course, is the best learning environment I can imagine.
I am grateful to have such a great instructor and even though
we had too much homework, it did help me learn more. Keep up the
great work.
Steve does a great job making Geology interesting and applying
it to reality. His tests are difficult, so he has high standards
and expectations. The course was fun, funny, and interesting,
due in great part to his different and somewhat kooky lecture
style.
Prof. Reynolds is very enthusiastic about the subject matter which
helped to make the class interesting and fun. I wish I could've
had more Profs. as fun and really motivated by the material as
much as him.

I have never before had an instructor who was so enthusiastic
about his topic. This class definitely stimulated my interest
in geology. All the topics were presented in a very interesting
manner and with a lot of fun.
Professor Reynolds made Geology more interesting than I ever
thought possible. He is a great professor; one of the most knowledgeable
and interesting I've had at ASU. He can make a piece of granite
interesting!! Give the guy a raise-He deserves it.
I really like the term paper he gave us. At first I hated the
observation slides, but now over time I've gotten used to them
and somewhat like them. My only gripe about the textbook is that
it's a paperback and it gets worn easily. I like the pictures
in it.
He is very good at holding the class' attention. He simplifies
what could be relatively technical and difficult material. This
is a very effective teaching method. Dr. Reynolds also seems very
helpful. He takes outside class time to set up study sessions
which are very helpful for preparing for the test. It's also
very nice that he makes the effort to learn students' names in
a big lecture.
Very interesting teacher who kept me coming even to an early morning
class. Very good at explaining material in clear, understandable
way. helped us think for ourselves not just memorize info. Looked
to find a class w/Reynolds next semester but wasn't able to work
it in my schedule.
Prof. Reynolds was a great and immensely enthusiastic teacher.
I am terrified of the sciences but he usually made it very understandable
and class was almost always quite which was quite a surprise.
My one complaint would be that the tests seemed a lot harder than
the lectures, but he usually handled this fairly. I also appreciated
that attendance was awarded. Overall, he was one of the best instructors
I've had in my 4 yrs. at ASU.
Overall the class was interesting and the instructor taught in
a very understandable manor. also it was neat because the instructor
was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and enjoys teaching this subject.
The only thing was that the test were still too far above our
level at this point.
Professor Reynolds was a wonderful teacher. He was very excited
to teach and made every lecture funny and interesting. Outside
of class he took much of his time to meet and get to know his
students. He took time out of his schedule to come eat dinner
with us and it was a fun way to learn more about him and vice
versa. I've never had a teacher who loved his job as much as he
did and who took time to meet his students. I would love to take
another class from him in the future and am recommending his class
to all may friends!!
I have really enjoyed Prof. Reynolds class. I have learned a lot
about volcanoes, earthquakes, and sedimentary, igneous , and metamorphic
rocks. I thought I would have never been interested in these things,
but he made it very exciting and the learning fun.
Because of this instructor my interest in geology has increased
and I feel like I really have learned something and not just have
gone through the motions of going to class and memorizing.

Dr. Reynolds really makes the class interesting. He relates topics
to things we identify with. He makes an extra effort to be available
for students and takes the time to explain things. He's an excellent

Although Steve's tests are extremely difficult and require much
more understanding that other classes seem to, hi is immensely
fair and always available for any questions, etc. Considering
I strongly dislike and usually do not understand science classes,
Steve's has been a pleasure!

I really enjoyed the class. The great thing about the class is
that it forced me to think about how process work and can apply
them in the real world.
This class was one of the most interesting classes just because
of the way the Prof. taught it. He was also very understanding
of my learning disability and was willing to help at all times!
I feel that Dr. Reynolds teaches well. Every teacher should be
so great! Give him a pay raise! The class was great because we
focused on a general understanding of the material instead of
nit-picky terms and details. I can honestly say that I can use
what I've learned outside of class (I would have never used or
remembered geological terms). Dr. Reynolds is always available
outside of class-which was really helpful. This exams were fair

This was the best class I have ever taken. I pay so much attention

The professor is always available for help and is always very
happy to help. He does a lot outside of the classroom to help
