I go everywhere. We go to the movies. Sometimes Ed even buys

So unbelievable nice, helpful and cool. He is so
enthusiastic about the course. He is definitely one of the most
helpful and nicest teachers I know. He obviously enjoys his job.

I think professor Reynolds has great enthusiasm and
always presents himself in a happy interested way.
Prof. Reynolds is one of the best teachers I have
ever had at ASU. I have always hated Science, but Prof. Reynolds
actually made it way interesting. He is so enthusiastic and you
can tell he loves to teach. He always goes the extra mile for
us a and gave us so much of his time for extra help. He is the
greatest.
This instructor was quite enthusiastic and this in
turn allocated me a reason to attend and do well in this class.
I'm probably getting a "C", but science is not my forte,
considering I'm not a science - oriented individual, this wasn't
as bad as I'd presumed.

names. Very, very personable, I hope to take another class with

He stimulated my interest so much I am thinking about switching
to Geology as a major. Reynolds is a great professor and he is
really enthusiastic about Geology and he really makes it interesting.

Very enthusiastic about the course. Instructor has
made the course fun, and rewards students for showing up by giving
credit for looking at slides. Gives an incredible field trip
to Papago Park. He is more interested in the students knowledge
of geology then memorizing dates, etc. Great Professor. A+++.
The instructors unconventional (and sometimes corny)
teaching methods are really helpful in understanding the material.
I appreciated not having to learn a bunch of technical vocabulary
that I won't ever use again. The hands - on evaluate-what-you-see
method taught me nore then technical knowledge would. I would
love to take the Geology of AZ class from this instructor but
it doesn't fit into my POS timewise. The only draw back was that
he did not always answer student questions but was somewhat evasive.
Dr. Reynolds is an incredible teacher. His love
and knowledge for Geology shows through when he teaches. He
took time with us to help us understand as well as made things
fun.
Reynolds is one of the best teachers that I ever
had. If there was one class that I thought would be boring it
is this one, but it was very interesting thanks to Reynolds.
Reynolds made this class a lot of fun. I'd like
to also say my lab instructor Bob forsberg was also a fantastic
teacher. Both guys are very knowledgeable on their topic. Bob's
study sessions were a great help.
Professor Reynolds really knows how to get students
interested in Geology. He is also good at getting students to
think about processes. The only thing I have to say that is negative
is that doing slide observations every class period becomes a
little tedious.
He is a good professor, teaches well and knows the

the class. All semester I only missed one class, I was sick.

Professor Reynolds is by far one of the best professors
I have had in college. His teaching methods are the best as
far as student understanding. What he is explaining. His love
for what he teaches is great and it shows he cares for his students.
He has a great attitude about teaching geology -
he thinks it is more important to understand the basic concepts
well than memorize a bunch of facts and forget them later. He
always made lecture interesting and explained things much more
clearly than the text. he is one of the better professors I've
had here (And I've been here a long time.)
I have learned a lot in this class, the tests might
have been more difficult but I felt I came out of the class knowing
a lot more than when I came in. Field trip was great.

He uses a variety of methods in lecture but should lecture more
- I often wished I had more words and definitions to study rather
than just pictures - a happy medium should be reached.
Dr. Reynolds and Sian have been great. They make
Geology interesting for students who are not necessarily scientifically
inclined. Reynolds ' geology in the field course should be great
too.
Steve is an excellent teacher. We had a substitute
(not Arrowsmith - different one ) who was extremely boring. He
is very enthusiastic. I'm excited for Field Geology.

me to finally be interested in a science course. Now when I am
out I actually know some knowledge about the earth's features.
I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Reynolds has been
one of the best professors that I have had. He makes the class
interesting and fun to come to every Tuesday and Thursday. He
has really made science a lot of fun.
He made the class very interesting. He took a 200
student lecture class and made it feel as though it was an intimate
class setting.
The only thing I didn't like at times was the group
work. Once in awhile is fine, but all the time seems wasteful.
One person usually ends up writing while the other people do
nothing. Either that or no one cares and we just sit around for
15 minutes. Also, maybe having a few more structured notes would
help people like me who don't learn from drawings because I look
back and they make no sense. Sometimes I would like to study
off some organized notes instead of a bunch of drawings.
Reynolds tries to put our knowledge to work. This
is sometimes difficult to do because this is an introductory course.
Good interaction with class though. Good review sessions.
Professor Reynolds is undoubtedly the most wonderful
instructor I've had at ASU. He is enthusiastic, intelligent,
caring, and always uses his free time to help students. The way
he presents the material through slides, projects, and demonstrations
is extremely effective. It's to bad the evaluation only goes
to an "A" for teachers grade because Mr. Reynolds deserves
an A++.

This was the most fun and interesting course that
I have had this semester. Dr. Reynolds is a fantastic instructor
and I only wish that more of the teachers at ASU were as enthusiastic

I went in this class thinking it would be a blow
off but the way Prof. Reynolds teaches makes it interesting and
it doesn't seem like work. I really did not expect to learn as
much as I did - glad I took the class.
The instructor was very interesting and his confidence
in the subject matter is great. we had a couple of guest lectures
from other geology classes, but I think I lucked out by have S.

The class was taught very fair and there were a lot
of in-class points that help grades. The tests were a little
bit hard but we were warned of this at the beginning of the class.
He is a really good teacher but he should be distributed
into many different classes. Good teachers are hard to come by
so why not put him in a class of 30-50 people besides it provides
more sit down explanation time and would make both the job of
student and teacher a lot more easier and beneficial.
Reynolds knows what he is talking about and conveys
information with clarity, cheerfulness, and always accepts any
questions related to the course.
Reynolds makes the class very interesting with only
teaching us the practical aspects of geology. He shows us haw
what we are learning can be seen or applied the ground or environment
around us. He does a great job keeping the class interested,
and is very helpful when someone doesn't understand.
I think that Dr. Reynolds should do a campus wide
lecture about teaching methods in all subject areas. The main
target audience should be MA and Ph.D. students and current instructors
- we all need to be updated in teaching methods.

Wonderful! Reynolds makes science fun, and his enthusiasm
is contagious. He is a mice person and is considerate of his

Mr. Reynolds has made this course so enjoyable that
if I didn't already have a major, it would be Geology. He's the
best science teacher I have ever had. I highly recommend Mr.
Reynolds to any and every student that I come in contact with,
who is afraid of science. If all of my teachers made my learning
experience like Mr. Reynolds, I'd have strait A's.

I can't say enough things about Reynolds. His enthusiasm
and class participation made class so interesting. Also, the
slides were great. I would recommend him (and already have) to

The timing for the assignments was poor, especially
the last one. It would have been better for them to be spread
out and not so close to test dates.

When I answered A on the scantron, it was because of his positive

of AZ (it was boring) and it was nothing like this.
This instructor was very enthusiastic in teaching,
although as a senior I felt that the tests were harder than what
a normal 101 class would have.
Eliminate essay questions. You or anyone else cannot
grade these in a completely fair/just manner.
You are a credit to the university and to all humanity.

Steve Reynolds is the best and most enthusiastic
professor I've had at ASU - I'm a graduating senior, sorry I
didn't have him sooner so I could take another class from him.
I did not think the lecture material went with the
test.
He is very interesting, keeps my attention, he improved
my communication with others, very friendly. But... should keep
personal opinions to himself especially about children being the
#1 pollutants of the environment. I as a parent do not think
so. I think beer drinkers are especially on aluminum cans, which
sometimes are not recycles, and bottled beers. I used cloth diapers
most of the time and still do.
This instructor is excellent. He uses the most current
pedagogy to date in his instruction. His presentation is clear,
organized ,and easily understandable, at our level. He encourages
small group participation and whole class discussion. He is fair
on his tests, he tests what he teaches - no surprises. The homework
assignments were overall content he wanted to teach. The classroom
atmosphere is informal, and welcoming - so Steve invites us to
learn better, and more comfortably. I highly recommend this professor
- I learned a lot of useful content.

It was wonderful to be in a science class that wasn't
full of stasis. I think Prof. Reynolds is an enthusiastic, insightful
teacher who takes joy in having others appreciate science. Although
I do not regularly enjoy science, I enjoyed this class and learned
a lot more than my grade show.
Reynolds is obviously a very intelligent man. He
just isn't the best teacher. he babbles a lot and is very amusing.
But not always informative mice guy though and he does know his
geology.
The best teacher I've had at ASU. I am so used to
being tricked on tests that I expected it - he never did . Very
exciting - I learned a lot . I can not say enough . Great semester.
Reynolds is very enthusiastic about what he teaches,
and it is obvious that he really cares about teaching. We need
more instructors like this. As a history major,, I have little,
exposure to material such as this, but GLG 101 turned out to be
one of the most enjoyable classes I've had at ASU.
The instructor feels a need to be "cool"
or funny in order to put students at ease and sometimes this seems
to hurt credibility (although I do not doubt he knows his field).
Steve Reynolds has always been prepared for class
and has made it very interesting. I have been highly impressed
with his teaching ethic and interest in our education. Repeatedly
he has made himself available outside of class and has gone above
and beyond what most Prof.ís do. This class has been one
of my favorites and I have learned many things. Now when I'm
hiking or traveling around AZ or anywhere I can tell a lot more
about my surroundings. It would be helpful to have more Profs.
like Mr. Reynolds. He is very good. A++. He should educated
other instructors on how to teach. It has been a wonderful experience.
