Great instructor, he shows a lot of care and enthusiasm toward
the class and about the class. Itís a very interesting
course.

Overall - the class was great - sometimes my attention wasnít
there but that wasnít because the class wasnít interesting
but more about my own time management (I work full-time and go
to school full-time.)
The in-class assignments are given way too often. Their sole
purpose seems to be to make students come to class. If students
donít come to class and therefore fail the testís
that is their fault. However, if they do well on the tests and
get massively penalized because they didnít do the in-class
assignments, it doesnít make a lot of sense.
Prof. Reynolds really cared about his students and their performance.
He makes himself available and insists on helping. He is wonderful!

Reynolds uses practical application through exercises on Internet,
homework and papers - This made geology more relevant to me.
Better than memorizing for tests. I also like the fact that tests
were not what the grade depended on.

The teaching methods were great in the class. The hand drawn
ìcartoonsî made it easy to follow the description
of the geological processes being explained. The break each class
seemed to allow the first batch of ìstuffî to register
so the remainder of the class could be absorbed. Talking to class
members to arrive at conclusion helped get the ìlingoî
down and reinforced the information. Bravo on use of the Internet!
The web site is well organized easy to use and has relevant information.
The interaction with the class was great. He moved around the
class to keep everyone involved. The Snackwells, money flow,
and monster castle examples were great helps in remembering processes.
He was a great instructor. He really utilized several teaching
techniques in class. This really kept our interest. Itís
nice to have someone who has a love for his work and it shows
in how he presents himself to the class. I think itís
an honor for the instructor to know that I now look at geologic
features around. So in a sense he accomplished his qual to get
me interested in my environment. Heís a happy man.

Mr. Reynolds is an awesome instructor! His teaching methods are
really helpful for a science class. The diagrams (cartoons)
he draws to help illustrate his material are extremely helpful.
I feel that I have learned more in this science class than any
other I have taken. I really enjoyed how he made the material
useful information not a bunch of terms weíll never remember.

so we understand. Keeps attention on him. The breaks are a very

Dr. Reynolds teaches in a way that holds your interest and helps
you understand. He really has our best interest in mind and wants
us to learn. He loves what he does but yet he doesnít
give us unneeded information.
Professor Reynolds is a very good teacher. This class has really
surpassed my expectations of GLG101. Iím glad I have Reynolds
because my friends with other instructors do not like their GLG101
classes. They say they are easily bored. From what Iíve
heard, Reynolds seems to approach the subject much differently.
He know weíre in here because we have to be, so he works
hard to make it fun for us. Each class I learn something new!
He makes the class very interesting. I feel he takes a subject
which to the average student may be boring and makes it fun and
applies it to real situations which we can relate to. I enjoyed
this course very much so. His techniques of teaching are superb.
I would recommend taking this course with Professor Reynolds

Dr. Reynolds has been one of my favorite professors at ASU. He
is very easy to understand and has made science enjoyable. Before
taking this class I had no interest in science at all; now I do.
I am glad that I chose GLG as one of my required science credits.

Steve is a great instructor give him a raise! Encourage him to
work both semesters, I have some friends that I recommended him
for, to take this class, but they have to wait a semester until
next fall.
I enjoyed this class a lot. I learned a lot of things that I
find very valuable, and I have even impressed my family with my
knowledge about geology. Professor Reynolds makes the assignments
fun. I love doing my homework! I took this class on a recommendation
from another student who suggested Reynolds by name. I plan to
pass on this advice to everyone who asks which geology class to

Steveís class is most enjoyable for me. This is an easy
class because he makes it interesting and it makes me want to
learn more. He makes it a great effort to assist us in understanding
his lectures. He encourages us to be creative as we learn.

Steve is very knowledgeable about his subject and he conveys
to the class pertinent information. He also uses fun outside
activities to stimulate the class (e.g. Internet exercises, group

Steve is a great teacher. He makes geology fun, and frankly,
rocks arenít that interesting. He makes everything interesting.
I think he is probably one of the best professors at ASU! The
field trip was fun, and class is always enjoyable. All students
should have the opportunity to learn something from this teacher.

Dr. Reynolds is the most enthusiastic teacher I have had at ASU.
This class is incredible. I know most people take it as an easy
lab science, but there is so much to learn if you try. More than
any other class, this one has made me want to go out and apply
what I have learned. It is just an outstanding class, and Dr.
Reynolds is an outstanding teacher. I hope I can take another
class from him before I graduate.
Great teacher: itís the best class Iíve ever had
at ASU. The one thing I would change would be the test answers
that too often say things like all of the above, none of the above,
a & c only, a & b only. Although I felt confident in
my knowledge of the subject, those choices often confused me.
It was really wonderful to be able to learn about GLG from Steve.
His slides and his personal field experiences made the class
great! I especially liked the day on Antarctica. Thanks!
Prof. Reynolds was a good teacher. I really enjoyed this geology
class. Steve made it interesting by showing a lot of slides.
I liked looking at the geologic features in pictures to go along
with what we learned.
The content of the class is extremely boring - who cares about
rocks. I just need this class to graduate - BUT - Steve has been
excellent - he keeps things interesting - He tries to make it
as bearable as possible. I would tell anyone who has to take
this class to take it from him. Although I do think that the
tests are a little complicated for a 101 level class. And never
have the last test just days before the final exam. Talk about
stress.
