The image on the left is from the previous movie.  On the right is an explanation of what happened geologically when you adjusted the sea level.

1.  Water has deposited a layer of sand over the basement and a layer of mud over the sand.   Notice how the layers are building upward.  If the water continues to rise, it will continue to deposit sand and mud.
